What does "owner abated" mean?

The city came to inspect my apt building because every time it rains, my apt floods really bad. I called the city because my apt manager kept giving me the run around and refused to fix the issue or put me in another unit. And i just found out from one of my neighbors that he used to live in my unit and had the same issue so my apt manager moved him in another unit before i moved in..so they knew exactly what was wrong with my apt and still decided to take my money. So the last time my apt flooded i was fed up and filed a complaint with the city. The lady came to inspect it about a month ago and has been communicating with me ever since. And my apt manager has also been on top of fixing the issue..its funny how i had to file a complaint in order for them to fix the issue.. Well the lady came back today to inspect again(i suppose they had a deadline).. She then emailed me and said owner abated and to call her asap if i have any other issues. What does that mean?

Owner abated means that she feels the owner has fixed the problem and nothing new needs to be done. If you believe the problem is fixed and there is no more flooding then you don't need to do anything more either. If the flooding coninutes (or the problem simply clearly isn't fixed) then call up the inspector for further help.

You are smart to dig into this and attempt to fully understand. Many people let words stream thru their ears and never attempt to understand. As the others have said- it is saying that the city has found that the owner is doing the fix up. The city may have notified the owner of legal issues that required the owner to repair stuff like this. I would not fully believe it is fixed until two or three big storms come thru. Don't leave valuables where they can be harmed.

abated means fixed. so she is saying that according to their inspection the problem is taken care of and issue is closed unless something else comes up.

"Abatement" is the process of removing a hazardous material such as mold, asbestos, etc.

"Abated" is simply the past tense version meaning that abatement has been done

"Owner-Abated" means the owner of the property abated the hazardous material themselves. - This does not necessarily mean the owner did the work themselves, they may have hired someone, but it means the city didn't have to come in and do it because the owner got it taken care of.

Abate means reduce or remove (a nuisance) so the owner has been served a legal notice to make the problem right

"Owner abated" means that the owner fixed it, or had it fixed. Or at least convinced the city that it was fixed.
