what are the laws in regards of consumer protection for domain name protection? who would be the most appropriate organization to contact?

    To contact for what? You're too vague.

    Contact the registrar - who you would register the domain name thru. Not sure there are laws for domain name protection - you are only renting the name - it can be yanked from you.
