Do electoral fans realize that it is possible to win the Electoral college with as few as 12 states?

    No, because it only takes 11. And what is your point? If it were a straight popular vote, it would be possible with only 3. Why do you think that's even better?

    It actually only takes 11 states to win the electoral college. California, Texas, Florida, New York, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, New Jersey = 270.

    i hadn't checked and I'm ok with it if that's the case. Of course, under current reality, CA and TX voting the same way is virtually impossible.

    Considering that several liberal states now ignore the will of their people and decide instead to go with the popular vote of the country it's kind of a moot point.

    Saying that, the electoral college was never perfect, but it is a far superior system than just being ruled by California every single election.
