The radon amount is 5.1 at my new house Do I need to have this fixed?

    You should if something can be done about it. 5.1 is horribly high. Dangerously high.

    Just the basement or was that for the whole house?

    Yes, get a system to vent out your basement/ house and that should do it. They aren't to expensive.

    yes, but no need to panic - up to 4 is considered ok.

    ANY amount of radon in your home will increase you and your family's chances of getting lung cancer. The "action level" in the US is 4.0 -- anything higher than that, the EPA recommends you take action. You might not be able to sell your home if the radon levels are too high.
