Maybe you have a fungal infection if the area is itchy and go buy some antifungal cream from the pharmacy and use as directed until the fungal infection is killed off. Signs of a fungal infection or Jock itch as it is commonly known is the area is itchy a lot, and tends to feel a bit moist even slimy. Fungal infections love damp sweaty moist areas of the body such as between your toes and around your groin. Hopefully that is your problem, but if it isn't then it is a trip to a doctor to see if he can find what is causing this. Hand soap is one of the best killers of bacteria in the world as apparently if causes the outer membrane of bacteria to rupture and kills the bacteria, but more likely a fungal infection is your problem.

try a couple of things-- soak the area with peroxide for a few minutes, regular pharmacy grade peroxide you can buy for $1 or so. Peroxide kills bacteria. Be sure and do it in the tub or shower to avoid a mess, and then rinse off after a few minutes. But often a really foul odor is caused by fungal infection--so a jock itch medication is called for to get rid of that.

As others have stated regular bathing with soap and water is the first step. If the problem continues try applying baking soda around the groin region.Baking soda is safe and absorbs odors. You can also try applying apple cider vinegar which is good for the skin and is a natural antiseptic. If the problem persists see a doctor.

If it's that bad and frequent bathing doesn't help, you need to see a doctor.

"Athletes Foot" talc, plus using an anti-dandruff shampoo as body wash.

Between the two they kill many common scing bugs and fungi.

And use antiperspirant on your crotch as well as under your arms...
