Can you do long division? Do you know what a remainder is?
https://www.mathsisfun.com/long_division2.html
Divide the number of seconds by 60 to get minutes with the remainder being excess seconds.
312.8 divided by 60 = 5 with a remainder of 12.8
Alternately:
You just divided 312.8 by 60 and got 5.21333. That's 5.21333 minutes.
If we set the 5 minutes aside and look at the 0.2133 minutes...
We have 0.2133 minutes and there are 60 seconds in a minutes, so:
0.2133 * 60 = 12.8 seconds

312.8 sec × (1 min)/(60 sec) = 312.8/60 min = 5.21333... min
0.21333... minutes is 12.8 seconds, not 21.3 seconds

312.8" = 312.8/60' = 5.2133'
= 5 minutes + 0.2133 minutes
= 5 minutes + 0.2133*60 seconds
= 5 minutes + 12.8 seconds

Let's start with 312.8 seconds.
If we divide that by 60 to get minutes, we get:
5.213333...
with infinite 3's at the end.
We know the minutes part is now 5 in the calculator that still has the value from the previous division, subtract 5 from it to get:
0.2133333...
which is the number of minutes that is left. We want to convert that back into seconds, so multiply this by 60 again to put it back into seconds to get:
12.8
So the total conversion is:
5 minutes, 12.8 seconds.

It is 5.21 minutes you get by dividing by 60. So .21 minutes converted to seconds is the product of 0.21 x 60, which is 12.6 seconds. Put it all together. You can do that much after I did most of your homework for you. You learned that a minute is 60 seconds way back in kindergarten. That's where that "60" comes from.

312.8 s = (312.8/60 ) min = 5.213333.. min
This means 5 whole minutes and 0.213333.. partial minutes
0.213333 min = (0.21*60 s) = 12.8 s
So 312.8 s = 5 min and 12.8 s
Alternatively 312.8 s = 300s + 12.8 s = 5 min + 12.8 s

60 seconds x 5min =300 seconds.
remainder 12.8 seconds.
5 minutes, 12.8 seconds is correct.

The answer is 5 minutes, 12.8 seconds.
Start counting off blocks of 60 seconds until you go over.
1 * 60 = 60
2 * 60 = 120
3 * 60 = 180
4 * 60 = 240
5 * 60 = 300
6 * 60 = 360 <-- over
So the number of whole 60-second blocks is 5. (As you know, we call 60-second blocks "minutes" :D )
So there are 300 seconds that are made up by whole minutes. Number of remaining seconds:
312.8 - 300 = 12.8
So it's 5 minutes, 12.8 seconds.
