How is your dog with children?

Question

Although I've worked with dogs a lot, I'm only very rarely around other people's dogs and children. I have found my rescue dog is amazing with kids. To the point where it's just astounding. She usually just likes us, and she's usually rambunctious, but if with kids, she wants to hang out, she's so relaxed and happy, and SO gentle, and usually she's an oaf. I just would like to hear how most people's dogs do around children, and their if their upbringing contributed.

I've asked this a couple times, but everyone jumps down my throat if I mention she's a pit, or don't really answer.

Dogs can sense the old, young, sick, stressed—sometimes it stressed them out and they get scared or angry other times they become more sympathetic and gentle. It depends on the dog and the experiences it has gone through in life. My dogs are all different. Two are big rescues which are good with kids but one is not cool with strange men or women that dont prove themselves worthy. He nips and gets protective of his pack.

Why keep asking this.    My two are okay with people who visit although we don't have small children visiting.  In any case if we have anybody visiting, I contain my two until I see who they are (the visitors) and how they might react with my two.    I don't impose my hounds on anybody, even  people I know, until I see it's going to be okay.
