Why did the SCOTUS allow unrestricted abortions during the first trimester of pregnancy?

Was it because it has been shown that, during this initial period, there are no electrical activities indicating human life just as in the case of "brain dead" adults who society agrees that "pulling the plug" on life support is not murder?

The further along the pregnancy, the greater the chance of complications for the mother. This is true for natural miscarriages as well as abortions. Also the further along the pregnancy, the greater the chance of a live birth. This is especially true for third trimester pregnancies.

  • Because it isn't the government's business, let alone some holy roller snake-handler's business.
