Why God's name is revealed: Exodus 3:14-15 reads "Then Yahweh said to Mosheh: I am Who I am. And He said:?

This is what you are to say to the children of Israyl; YAHWEH has sent me to you. Yahweh also said to Mosheh: This also shall you say to the children of Israyl; YAHWEH, the Heavenly Father of your fathers, the Mighty One of Abraham, the Mighty One of Isaac, and the Mighty One of Yaaqob, has sent me to you. THIS IS MY NAME FOREVER and this is MY MEMORIAL: the Name by which I am to be remembered by, from generation to generation, for all generations.'

It's because Moses explicitly asked God to give him a name by which he could identify that particular deity to the Israelites living in Egypt.

You have quoted God's answer to Moses' request.

In this dialogue, Moses is seen as not really wanting to go, and trying to find excuses not to. Finally, he says to G-d that the Israelites will need the identity of the One Who is sending Moses. In those days, names had power (they still do). So G-d reveals G-d's name to Moses. As noted above, G-d responds with two names: אֶהְיֶה אֲשֶׁר אֶהְיֶה, which means "I am that I am", or more properly "I will be who I will be", and יְהוָה, which is never pronounced the way it is phonetically spelled; instead, "Ado-nai", or "AdoShem, or "HaShem" are typically used in speaking.

"I Am who I Am". That's a tremendous affirmation of who God is.

"YAHWEH" (יהוה) is not the name of the Hebrew god. It is a marker used in scripture in place of the name of God (Ha Shem), the name being considered too holy to speak or to write. The word is not even pronounced as it is written, instead the word "adonai" is used.
