I want a sewing machine that just straight stitches forward. All the machines seem to have 23 to 200 stitches which I will never use, ideas?

You don't have to use the decorative stitches.
If you buy an industrial machine, it will only have a straight stitch forward and backward.

As mentioned, don't think you'll find a machine that has only a straight stitch (except those cheap handheld things that won't last or do a good job, etc), or perhaps a very expensive old Singer Featherweight or pedal model, etc.
Also as mentioned, many sewers will need a zigzag stitch for various different reasons.
Many sewers never use the other stitches though, or might occasionally use a hemming stitch, etc. So you could just do what many do and ignore them.
And most machines made for quite awhile have the capability of stitching backwards (usually just for a stitch or few), but again you wouldn't need to use it.
The best machine for you (if you don't want to spend a load of money) would probably be an older model since they were better made, less complicated, and would now be a good deal costwise.
Best place to get one of those would be sewing machine "repair" shops since they often end up with machines others decide to leave behind when they buy newer models or don't have the cash, etc, and the repair person will really know the used machines they have for sale.
Otherwise, you could get an inexpensive current model.
Most brands/models would do for simple sewing especially if not sewing a huge amount. And you can look up their ratings and customer reviews at amazon before buying to discover any hidden problems, etc.

You will need a zig zag stitch
After 40 years of sewing, you are right you don’t use most of those stitches.
You won’t find a machine with only a straight stitch. And all have a reverse. Get a Machine in your price range. Go to a sewing store and demo it if you can.
I am not a fan of Singer, but I bought my daughter the Singer patchwork quilting machine.
It isn’t too fancy. A good solid machine. joAnns had the best price and free shipping.
You can look into old antique sewing machines. Very old Singer machines were great
