Does jail go against the constitution?

“We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”. Doesn’t putting someone in jail go against all this, they are taken away from life, from liberty, and from the pursuit of happiness, right?

    You are quoting from the Declaration of Independence, not the Constitution.

    The Declaration is not a governance document.

    But, if you'll continue reading it, you'll find that it provides for establishing governments, which have law enforcement as a role.

    That's the Declaration of Independence and it is not a law.

    Read the Constitution.

    You need to learn the difference between the Constitution and the Declaration of independence. The Constitution is law. The Declaration of independence is not, it is just a statement. What you have quoted is not in the Constitution. It is the preamble to the Declaration of independence and has no force of law.

    Elsewhere in the constitution it says no one shall be deprived of their rights WITHOUT DUE PROCESS OF LAW.

    Dangerous thing arguing that.... as it opens up many things that people argue to keep like the 'right to have guns' just because a Constitution written centuries ago (for people to live by at that time) and 'stuff' the number of people being killed because the Constitution says every nut and his dog can have a gun..........
