Rattling noise under car when complete stop?

So I drive a beater 2000 Toyota Echo for the moment. There is a rattling noise under it when I come to a complete stop when holding the brake. The noise is coming specifically under in the general area where the exhaust is but I personally don't see the exhaust rattling. Any ideas what it may be?

does you catalytic converter have a heat shield? It may have rusted loose and rattles at idle.

Sometimes the muffler comes apart (on the inside of the drum), hold it firmly and shake it or using the heel of your palm give it a thump and listen,,,

When stopped, in park, with emergency brake on, use a broom handle to reach under the car and press on the muffler and/or pipes and see if the rattle goes away. Be careful, it will be hot under there.

I would say the muffler is getting ready to fall off.
