I am thinking about purchasing a bread box. Should it be wood or plastic and what is the difference? Thanks for all advice!?

I meant to say that I live in a humid climate....mold problems....

    I *HATE* plastic. Plastic gets brittle and breaks after a decade or three. Wood is good for over a century.

    Depends on the humidity in you area. Plastic doesn't breathe

    A plastic box is lighter weight and less likely to break if you drop it. Plastic can also be clear so you can see how much bread is in it.

    If you're going to actually store food inside of it, I'd go with plastic. Plastic is easier to clean and isn't a porous surface that lets bacteria grow, unlike wood.
