Asked to cover another store, but only because original stores system is down?

I work at a retail store, and our system for our department crashed a week ago out of no where. Now to make up my hours a manager told all of us to just over crowd another store with employees all trying to sell the same thing and all partially on commission. My question is because it was no fault of our own and because we were not given reasonable time to prepare transportation should the company still have to pay us regardless if we worked at the other store? Also any attempt to fix the system issue was slow and delayed, as it took about a week to have someone come out and repair it

You work for the company not the site you usually work at, it happened to me once or twice when I was younger and it was work elsewhere or we can't pay you.

It was an opportunity to work in another store and see how it operated, meet staff members in the flesh that I only knew over the phone and make new contacts within the business. Think of it as a break from the old routine.

You do not get paid for time you don't work, no.

He specifically told you to "overcrowd another store with employees" ?

Do you want to be paid for no work?

What do you think this is, the DMV?

    You have EXACTLY 3 options:

    1. You can work where you are told.

    2. You can take UNPAID time off.

    3. You can REQUEST vacation time.

Note: You can have your employment terminated if you refuse option 1.

There's no law that says they need to give you time to arrange transportation.

You can't be serious. No work, no pay.

Depends on what contract you are employed on...reading it should tell you what you/the employer can and can't do

You are not entitled to pay if you don't work. It's THAT simple.

The company is only required to pay you for hours actually worked, regardless of the circumstance. Your choices are to take the day of without pay or go to the other store.

The company does not have to pay you for not working. It sounds like the company was/is attempting to at least give you an option or working. Just because you do not feel that it is the best situation doesn't mean the company is doing anything wrong.
