Short of life itself, one major benefit is having a broader perspective and the ability to make sense of things that were mystifying when one was younger.

For me it is not just about being in my Golden Years, it is about spending the Golden Years alone. Just being able to do as I please, no-one else to have to consider most of the time. I get up when I please and fall asleep in my chair if I wish to do that and eat what I want when I want and come and go as I choose. Until a few years ago I was very limited in my own choices and had to please A MAN and had adult children living at home to cater for. They now have their own homes. Aloneness is not loneliness for me- it is bliss.

Not having to get up at a specific time each morning. Having grown up children who can do things for me now and again instead of me always doing things for them. Having more money for myself now that I'm not spending it on the kids.
Being a senior citizen and living alone is an extra perk as I have no-one else in the house to please with my cooking skills, the ways I iron clothes, the choice of the books I read etc. Being a senior and being alone is a double blessing these days.

I love having my life savings and feeling free to spend it. I am 70 so get my RMD which is excess since I can live on SS. I love the lack of stress never worry about a boss firing over mistakes and knowing I never need another job interview. My health is pretty good so I can do what I want when I want, I vacation about 1 week a month.
