Sometimes I don t hear words even though I m listening?

So I ve had this problem for a long time where I m avidly listening in a conversation or to a teacher but some words just get lost. Its most noticeable in class because I ll miss page numbers or homework assignments.ive considered that maybe it s my social anxiety and that I get overwhelmed and my anxious thoughts cause me to block out some words but it s happened before when I wasn t anxious. I m just wondering what s going on here and why there s some stuff I just miss.

It's called nerve deafness. See an audiologist. But having had it for many years, there really isn't any way to reverse all of it.

That's a common problem with hearing loss. Go to an ear doctor and have your hearing checked. You may need a hearing aid.

I think you've asked a great question and you're not alone. This can happen to any of us at times. Yes, anxiety makes it worse. You might try taking notes whenever the teacher is talking, and use exercise to lower your stress levels. A good diet and sleep can help with anxiety too. Also, there are books as well as articles and videos online to help you with building confidence and overcoming social anxiety.
