Is it possible for an animal or species to dominate our world?

Like, is there a possibility where planet of the apes is a reality? If you were to substitute apes for another species, which would it be? If animals were to create a civilization/society similar to humans, what would be different from both societies? Would we join forces? Would there be a possibility of war? What about government and social media? Please help, I only have 18 hours.
