Tal como lo has escrito no es correcto. Si pasa de 1, ya no es mil sino miles, en plural
1,8 miles = 1800 (mil ochocientos)
1,5 miles = 1500 (mil quinientos)
1,7 miles = 1700 (mil setecientos)
1,6 miles = 1600 (mil seiscientos)
