I dont know what you consider "affordable".

All hotels have the resort fee so honestly, it's the same as it's always been. Excalibur, Tropicana, Flamingo, the Linq, Harrah's, circus circus

I've stayed at Hooters several times. The location is awesome and haven't had any issues with the rooms or service.

New York New York is reasonable and the room I had was nice.

There are a lot of reasonable rates for hotels on the strip. You have to be careful because most of the hotels in Las Vegas will have a super low rate listed, but then they also add in a resort fee that isn't included in that rate. So, you might see a rate listed at $40 per night which sounds outstanding for a 4 star hotel...but then they add in a $35 resort fee per night. After taxes and fees, you're looking at $85-$100 per night. Which still isn't bad for a 4 star hotel.

I've stayed at two hotels in Vegas. Harrah's and SLS. Of the two, I liked SLS better. It seems a little nicer and more trendy. Also better managed (it's owned by Marriott/SPG). And parking is free...but the downside is that it's pretty far north of all the action. It's near the Stratosphere. But you can walk out the doors and take an escalator to the Las Vegas Monorail and you'll be on the strip in a few minutes.

Harrah's was okay...but it did seem a little tired and worn. Maybe good for people who are nostalgic for the Las Vegas of the 70s, but not for me. The room was really nice, though. I stayed in one of their renovated rooms. The hotel casino is also right there in the middle of the strip, next to Linq and the Flamingo.

"Affordable" means different things to different people. Treasure Island is slightly higher than staying at a Holiday Inn in suburban Henderson. You pay a little more, but you're right on the strip.

Like Diane A, I stay away from the whole MGM group. I call them "fake luxury" because a real luxury resort isn't constantly nickel and diming you (OK, more like $10-50) for petty "privileges" like fitness center use, lazy river (pool area) use. An MGM property doesn't give guests a bottle of water without charging their room handsomely, while most places will just hand you a bottle of water on request, for pete's sake, not even check to make sure you're a registered guest. If you're spending Mandalay Bay type money, try the Cosmopolitan; better location and better value.

What do you consider "affordable"? To be honest, most hotels on the Strip are affordable - depends on when you want to go and how far in advance you want to book.

I've stayed at just about every hotel/casino on the Strip and the only one I would never go back to is Circus Circus.

What do you consider "affordable"? Give an actual monetary amount.

Out of the big casinos, Circus Circus, Excalibur, and Stratosphere are usually the least expensive but I wouldn't recommend any of those 3.

I've stayed at Harrah's, Bally's, Paris, and New York New York among others. All are on the lower end as far as price is concerned and I didn't have issues with any of them personally. I would recommend them all.

The older ones are the cheapest, but you will have to do the leg work that works for you, Mirage, check Luxor, the one across the street from Mandalay , even Paris was cheap last time I went. It’s summer, prices are low. Be aware that the MGM group is now charging resort fees and parking fees.
