Is that a lot of money to you?

$25,000 is not a fortune to me, but I wouldn't turn it down. I'd pay off my mortgage with it and be completely debt-free.

    Invest and make more

I would pay off our two vehicles, get concrete poured on our garage floor, and pay off husband's credit cards. No, that's not really a lot of money.

I am fortunate to be able to say it's not a lot to me. I'd set it aside for future bills and perhaps travel on what's left.

    Tough life, huh?

But how to spend it depends on your overall financial well-being. It rarely makes sense for a young person who's not set for life to spend that much on anything that reliably loses value (vehicles, clothing, electronic devices) or is simply gone (travel, entertainment, wedding). I'd advise a young adult to either purchase a house or invest it.

Do whatever you want. The average person earns more than this every year...

i had that much liquid fairly recently. i used about half to buy a newer used car (mine crapped out on me.) and i'm planning on redoing my back deck (some of the boards are starting to rot.) the rest waits for a rainy day.

is it a lot to me? sure, but it's not like it is a life changing amount.

Since this is in Weddings, can we assume that someone wants to spend $25,000 on a wedding? I think that's really stupid- it's one day, and then it's over. That money could be the down payment on a house. Or it could be a really good honeymoon, with money left over to put in savings, or fix up a house.

In the 70s, people got married in their backyards, with a hand made wedding dress. We need to return to that and stop paying ridiculous amounts for a dress we wear once.
