whats the difference between a flint coney and a detroit coney?

Flint Coneys are made with Koegel's hot dogs (good stuff). I don't know who makes Detroit's dogs.

The Flint coney sauce is basically meat with spices. Detroit coneys are usually just chili dogs.

The Flint Coney sauce is said to be dryer than its counter part in Detroit. It is more of a hot dog topping than a sauce as it is more of a loose meat consistency. Detroit Coney's are more closely related to a Chili dog. As it is saucy and a bit more messy.

I'm just stunned that someone who uses the term "frankfurter" to mean hotdog doesn't appreciate the irony of attacking the use of Coney to mean hotdog stand.

Well first thing, Coney Island is about 500 miles east of both of those dumps. And its on the ocean. So calling your frankfurters coneys is about as lame as you can get. It s practically stolen valor.
