Linear scenario?

The value of a Honda Civic, y in dollars depreciates over x amount of years of the time purchased. The value of the car is $13000 after 2 years of purchased date. The value of the car is $8000 after 6 years.

Please help me solve this! thank you in advance

give the equation of the line, in the slope-intercept form, that is described in the scenario.  Explain how you found the equation.  Interpret or state what the slope and the y-intercept mean in terms of the scenario.  If the y-intercept does not make sense, state why?

    There are two points

    (2, 13000) and (6, 8000)

    ----------------------

    Find the slope

    m = rise/run

    m = (y₂ -y₁) / (x₂ - x₁)

    m = (8000 - 13000) / (6 - 2)

    m = -5000/4

    m = -1250

    -----------------------

    Slope intercept form is

    y = mx + b

    where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept

    Use either point to determine b

    using point (6, 8000) and m = -1250

    8000 = -1250(6) + b

    8000 = -7500 + b

    add 7500 to both sides

    15500 = b

    Now the slope intercept equation can be written

    y = -1250x + 15500 <––––––

    ----------------------------

    Interpret or state what the slope and the y-intercept mean in terms of the scenario.

    The slope -1250 means the car depreciates $1250 each year.

    The y-intercept, 15500 means the cars cost $15500 when new.

    If the y-intercept does not make sense, state why?

    The y-intercept seems a little low as a new Honda Civic is about $18000 - $22000
