X-ray can cause cancer but it doesn’t necessarily cause cancer. You’re exposed to radiation everyday. Sunlight is radiation.
She needs the X-ray to see the cancer. Sure it might make it worse but at least it tells the oncologist what path to use for treatment. Without the X-ray he doesn’t know if she has cancer or not. If she has it, he won’t know where the cancer is at or if it has spread.
What’s one way to treat cancer. Radiation. You’re basically using a stronger radiation to kill the cancer cells.

If you are concerned then why not do what an intelligent son would do and ask her doctor. Go in with her on her next visit and get the doctor to explain it to you. You don't seem very intelligent even asking this question. And unless you have a medical degree second guessing a doctor is moronic.

Instead of asking random strangers on the internet, and that includes me, you and your mother should be directing all your questions to her doctor/s.
I, for one, would be asking why cancer was never mentioned to me if it's in my portal.
Diagnostic x-rays do not make cancer worse.
