If you must spend at least 8 hours doing a task and you do 4 hours one day and 4 the next, is that NEGATING the 8 hour requirement?

    No, unless they stipulated it should be done in one go.

    Simple arithmetic is still 4+4=8. You learned that way back in the first grade but forgot over the years.

    Only if the requirement is the 8 hours must be consecutive.

    No. The requirement was to spend at least 8 hours on the task. It that was the only requirement, then 2 sessions of 4 hours each meets the 8 hour requirement.

    If the court ordered community service required a single session of 8 or more hours, then two 4 hour sessions do not satisfy the requirement.

    If it was not required to be done all at once, yes. AND you did 8 hours and 1 minute.
