How to reinstall Windows 7 on a laptop that didn't come with a recovery disk?

My laptop's hard disk just crashed and I am unable to use the system recovery tool. The computer has been out of warranty for over a year now and I don't want to have to spend the money purchasing a new computer (or a Windows disk).

You can easily find a copy of the Win7 installation discs for both 32bit & 64bit systems through either reputable websites, like Softpedia, download.com, or many others OR You can easily find them through torrents ... either way is perfectly legal as long as You use Your own regcode (CoA key) with the installation instead of any that might have been included in a torrent.

If You don;t have a DVD drive on the laptop go to www.pendriveapps.com & get a copy of one of their USB creation tools that does Windows installation flashdrives from the ISO files.

    G'Luck!!!

Most of the time you can order system disks from the manufacturer. Other times, crappy companies, discontinue selling the system disks once they no longer sell that model. It happened to me HP. Since your hard drive failed, you have to decide whether it is worth the cost of a hard drive and a replacement operating system to fix an obviously older laptop. If you think so, hopefully you can do all the labor. Personally, I'd say it's time for a new laptop.

If you didn't make recovery disks yourself then you'd need to contact the laptop manufacturer and order replacements, usually for a small fee.

If you're lucky, they might provide recovery media on their website, but usually they charge for it.

No way to recover from a crashed disk without backups, recovery media, or original distribution. Without backups or recovery media, your only option is to by a distribution, if you can still find a Win7 version.

    Next time, make system backups....
