the operation of a mainboard is determined by the mainboard CHIPSET. That decides the max possible that can be fitted to any machine. The maker of the mainboard can choose to fit usually 2 or 4 slots, and so it may only be possible to fit half of the maximum if only 2 slots are provided. Thus you did not tell us what pc/mainboard you have so we cannot help you. you can look up specific models of pc's at RAM makers websites.

You have to look at your Motherboards specifications.
Also you need to know if your using 32Bit or 64 Bit Operating System
If your using 32Bit Operating System you are limited to 4GB of RAM.

That depends on the motherboard's requirements and what it supports.
Some motherboards support only 8 Gb of RAM, some 16, 32, 64, and so on. For instance, my MSI Z270 board supports up to 64 GB of DDR4 RAM. Your motherboard may support the same amount or less.

Go to the crucial website and run the memory scanner tool, it will analyse your system, tell you how much, and what type of memory you have, and the maximum allowable

It would depend on what the Motherboard model is.
You can search for the motherboard model on google to find the manufactures website.
