What's an effective way to study for the ACT?
I'm out of school and don't know HOW to approach studying for it.
Now I took it twice and gotten a 19, and 17. Really damaging to my ego and everything. I know I can't keep taking it without practice like everyone around me effortlessly getting 30+ scores.

Purchase a study guide from Barrons, Kaplan, Princeton Review or some other publisher. You can find several on Amazon or in a bookstore like Barnes & Noble. Work through the book. Take the practice tests. Then you need to figure out where you lack subject matter proficiency and get help. For example, you can take Algebra on Kahn Academy or you can read up on U.S. History. You can also hire a private tutor to work through all of this with you.
These tests require proficiency in three different areas:
1. Content or subject area knowledge.
2. Critical thinking/ problem-solving ability.
3. Time Management skills.

There are plenty of study guide books on Amazon for the ACT. You can also go to your public library. Ask a research librarian for help finding what you need.
