I'm thinking about doing hypnotherapy for my anxiety.?

I've been researching for a while now about hypnotherapy for anxiety. The only con i come across is that if done by someone with no experience there can be drawbacks. I think that applies to most things in life. Anyone ever tried hypnotherapy and was it successful?

Long time ago I got hypnotherapy for dental anxiety and they taught me to do self hypnosis for relaxation - it helped with the dental work I needed but I still take Propranolol for anxiety so personally I wouldn't waste time or money for hypnotherapy for anxiety, Good Luck

My mom & her friend tried it to quit smoking...

My mom quit, her friend didn’t.

I’ve used self hypnosis/subliminal tapes & cd’s. There are also apps & websites, now.

That might be an alternative, to trusting someone who may or may not, know what they’re doing.

I know two people who tried this. One achieved some success; the other didn't.

So, I think it's a toss-up as to whether it might work for you.

Meditation is another possibility. I've seen that work for a few people. And if you want to take something natural, forget things like valerian root, Ashwaganda, and L-theanine. Try magnesium supplements, which have been shown in serious medical studies to be genuinely useful against depression and anxiety. They don't work like anti-anxiety meds, not immediately. You have to take them for some time and let the magnesium build up in your body. Try 250 mg per day, though don't take it these if you have kidney issues.

Assuming hypnosis is even a real thing, I'm not sure I'd ever trust someone to do that to me.
