I just survived a car crash. Does that mean I didn't make it and died in a parallel universe ?

    Probably not. There isn't any sufficient evidence (at least not enough for me) that there's more than one universe.

    However, in theory (assuming the multiverse exists), it is possible that your doppelganger may not have been as lucky as you. Of course, this also being said he/she may not have even crashed in their universe. Going on this theory, the possibilities are literally infinite.
