Yup...for a lot of reasons...job security being the biggest one.

Yes. I turned down a $10k increase and a 15% bonus opportunity (compared to my current 5%) because even with the increase, taking the job would have required relocating 2 hours to a city with a significantly higher cost of living. So it wouldn't have been much of a raise after all.

I was offered a job in Silicon Valley for a 20% raise. To make up for the difference in costs of living I would need a 100% raise to move there. No thanks. It's like asking me to move to Manhattan then discovering that my current mortgage payment gets me a one room loft in a crappy area.

Yes. I was offered a position where I would be supervising about 20 clerical women and I got the impression that they were feuding with each other and drove the last manager off.

No offers, but I've turned down interviews I had a good chance of getting which would have paid at least 25% more. Going from an 8 min to 45+ min commute was a big reason. The work, while similar, would have been throwing away or putting aside some knowledge I'd been gaining for several years and would rather use long term.

Yes. The company offering me a job was trying to open a new office in my town, but they didn't do a very good job of convincing me that they would be able to win enough local work to keep me busy. So I didn't want to risk it.

    Yes.

Same job, different company, different people

The reason I was looking is for a different opportunity. I liked the people I currently worked with and didn't mind the company.

Yes. It required lots of travel and I had a young child at home. I didn't want to be away from her for weeks at a time.

I didn’t get a job offer to turn down but I would like to have a job in my field because that is what I like

Yes. I work in logistics and in my area $65,000 a year is pretty much top of the mark. I turned down $100,000 a year job that even offered me relocation expenses and free company housing. Only catch was that it was in the middle of nowhere North Dakota in a town with 550 people and about a 3hr drive to any city with a decent population. Not to mention the winters are absolutely brutal. So it was hard to say no to that type of money but I know I would have been miserable there. Money isn't everything.
