    Making a website may be easy. but to compete for youtube is much difficult.

    Dailymotion's first round of funding brought in 7 million euros, and that was over a decade ago. If you think it can be done on the cheap, you are sadly mistaken.

    Creating the site would not cost a whole lot but promoting it would be difficult. Youtube has the advantage of being owned by Google.

    Millions. Youtube has been in business for over a decade now. It has server farms all over the world. Youtube is owned by google, and they are the biggest tech company worldwide. There are alternative video sharing sites that been in operation longer but they don't even compare to youtube.

    Like $80? You could start it overnight and make it open source so other people could help improve it. I mean Youtube's biggest advantage is it's been around a long time and gone through many revisions and improvements.
