    Either will work.

It will take less room in your freezer if you freeze balls of dough to bake later. You can also put dough in a zip top bag then press with the back of a knife a grid dividing the bag into 8 or 12 cookies depending on the size of the bag. Freeze the bag of dough then when you want to bake tear open the bag and break the dough along the dividing lines.

No need to thaw the dough before baking it may add a minute to the bake time.

Freezing dough also eliminates the possibilities of broken cookies.

Baked cookies will last if stored in an airtight container, I would keep them that way for a few days, if it will be longer than that before you take your cookies someplace or before a party bake them the day before if possible.

Freeze the dough, in the shape of a cylinder [fat sausage], when their nearly thawed [still a bit firm] they can be sliced into discs and baked.

If you have the time the bake the dough after you defrost it that would still allow you to enjoy the smell and sensation of fresh out of the oven warm cookies.

    both works.

Cookies freeze very well and most people cannot tell between a fresh baked and a fresh frozen and thawed cookie.

Freeze the dough, thaw and cook when needed.

You must make pretty lousy cookies if ya have to freeze them for later. The last time I made 'em, all fifteen dozen were eaten in less than an hour. And the people kept asking for more!
