I dyed my hair too dark?

You cannot lighten color with color. You can fade it out with over washing for a week (using dish soap and tide and clarifying shampoo) and then attempt a recolor but only up to 2 shades lighter. Or you can use a color remover and go from there. It will cause orange tones so have an ash based color ready and a toner to finish it up . I am a hairdresser

No, don't go there please, been there! The lighter dye will either not stick or it will streak or it will make your hair look coppery. In general I strongly derecommend box dyes. I had my hair dyed too dark by a hair dresser. Tried to lighten it with box dye three times. Failed and wasted money. The lighter dyes only grabbed on to my roots so I looked like I was getting grey! Ugh. Crawled to the barber.vi had black strokes in my hair, parts blond and parts brown. So what they did was they took a special product and applied it only to the darker parts. Then washed my hair. Then they applied my natural brown color all over. It looks amazing now and it was worth the 120 euros!

You can but two things will happen;

1) if you do it within a month you’ll cause a significant amount of damage to your hair

2) it won’t make your hair lighter

So from my hair experiences you most likely will not be able to dye it much lighter than it is now without bleach. One time I dyed my hair wayyyyy to dark of a blue and I just delt with it and washed it extra so that the color faded pretty quickly and became much lighter. Then when I switched from blue to orange (orange is way lighter) I had to bleach it.
