Are the cables along the median on a highway used to cause more pile ups in the winter to create jobs?

    They could at least put them in the middle so cars would not bounce back on the road and have enough area to be out of the way.

    No, they are used to keep cars from going over the median and crashing into the cars that are on the other side of the median.

    Sure, whatever makes you happy. You know they put a tilt in those curves just to feed cars into those barriers for the same reason.

    Those would be to stop head-on collisions. Without them, cars which hit them would otherwise kill someone coming from the other direction.
