Freeware alternatives to Microsoft Office Word and Excel?

Try the free version of Softmaker Office.

It is an excellent office suite which is compatible with microsoft office file formats .doc, .docx, .xls, and .xlsx

None of them are without limitations. Perhaps the most full-featured competitors are Pages and Numbers, which come free with Apple devices.

Libre Office. Free and compatible.

Libre Office is by far the best of the free Suites. Open Office a close second.

OpenOffice or LibreOffice. Both are full, free suites of office apps that can not only do most of what MS Office can do, they can also save as MS Office file types.

Open Office. It is freeware. It dies have Spreadsheet similar to Excel. Its similar to Microsoft Office, but just different enough to be very annoying.
