If your going southbound on Interstate 5, San Clemente is the last city of Orange County. If your going northbound on Interstate 5, Oceanside is the last city of San Diego County.
San Clemente and Oceanside are not neighboring cities. Between San Clemente & Oceanside, there is the vast Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base which acts as a buffer zone between the metropolitan areas of Greater Los Angeles (Los Angeles County, Orange County, Ventura County, southwest San Bernardino County, western Riverside County) & San Diego/Tijuana Border Metro (San Diego County, municipality of Tijuana, municipality of Rosarito, municipality of Tecate).
