Is it right to use civilian aircraft with civilians on board, as cover for bombing raids?

    Under the Geneva Conventions, it's illegal to go into war and wage combat operations without some kind of belligerent insignia who you REALLY belonged to, nor that you can use civilians and POWs as human shields for that matter either. So yes, it's illegal to use civilian aircraft to attack targets and having civilians inside would add an additional war crime charge with it. It's no different than a combatant himself dressing up in civilian clothing and fighting enemy troops while so disguised or using civilians as cover.

    Civilian aircraft are not capable of dropping bombs.
