    It costs ME 50¢.

You need to learn several things about using YOUR bus service.

Contact the bus company and ask for a "system map" and a "route map/timetable".

    Ask about "transfers".

    Ask about the "fares".

Children have a low cost fare, or no fare.

Adults pay the highest cost fare.

Students have a reduced cost fare.

Senior citizens often have a discounted fare or no fare. Sometimes transfers are free.

WHERE are you, and HOW OLD are you?

    Are you a STUDENT?

Source(s): I have been an intermittent bus user for many years.

Monthly passes can be anywhere from $40-$60 or more in most cities. Ya, students and old folks get a break on bus passes.

There is neither a global universal price or a universal set of rules for every transit system in the world. Find the website for the transit company in your mystery location and find the information yourself.

Of course they care how old I am. I have a free pass issued only to those over 65.

How much does it cost? For me during off-peak hours, nothing.

The rest of your question is impossible to answer without location details.

You need to call the transit company. The price varies.

Some will offer a discount for students under 18. Where i live public transportation buses cost 2.75 for a ticket or 7.00 for a daily pass.

    DETAILS matter.

Start with WHERE? The cost in your city differs from the cost in mine.

In my city, the price is different for 'local' routes than for 'express' routes.

Paying per trip costs more than a monthly pass if you plan to commute to work daily.

A couple of dollars per ride for city buses. I can be more accurate if you tell me what kind of bus. The city buses or the buses that bring you from city to city? Also they won't reallly care about your age as long as you are over 13-14.
