Before we enter a new year, would someone please explain to me why the west should continue to send troops to (or occupy) the Middle East?

    We shouldn't. We should simply let the Middle East be taken over first by Iran then by Russia. I'm sure it wouldn't interfere with the world's access to oil at all!
