Why do gamers oppress women and minorities?

Women don't play so good.

I think it's because the video designers are socially awkward isolated men perhaps suffering from varying levels of Autism and Asperger and who have little contact with women and so begin to objectify them.

The women who want to go into game design don't because they simply don't like being around those men. In grade 1, my daughter had a classmate with Asperger and he would grab the little girls' behinds. I addressed the issue with their teacher and she got upset with me and told me to educate myself about Asperger. I tried and this answer includes some of what I learned. They seem to have little awareness of the consequences of their actions. The sad part is, the teacher never told HIS parents to educate themselves about how sexual assault and misogynist behaviour affects women.

They don't. A Gamer is a generalized term for people who play video games more than the average person, so pretty much anyone can be a 'gamer' including women and minorities. Some individuals might be rude intentionally because they're real identity is anonymous so their actions have no real consequences. Most gamers play video games to escape real life and forget about responsibilities so you shouldn't take them seriously since they themselves are not taking anything seriously.

As a girl who plays video games myself I've never experienced being oppressed by any gamers, ever.

I can't speak for all minorities or for all gamers but the gaming community is very open and very friendly, if you don't want to experience hate then avoid competitive games at all cost because it tends to become heated and people just throw out whatever word they can to get to you, all you gotta do is answer back with some funny comment, ignore it or just mute the person.

Even if there were no minorities and women playing these games they would still throw "hateful" comments towards each other.
