Why has my throat been bothering me? And how can I do something about it?

For about a week or so, I have been having issues with my throat. It hasn't been major, but just annoying at times.

Since the first week of the new year, I've been getting the feeling of phlegm in the bottom of my throat pretty constantly, and always have the need to clear my throat to get rid of it. However, it never seems to fully go away. Originally it would cause a sore throat after a while but it seems to have gotten better since then.

The thing is, I'm not sure it IS phlegm because I try to cough it out but it's just regular saliva. And when I try to blow my nose it's dry. After checking my throat with a flashlight in the mirror it looked like there may have been a cut or burn in there (at least what I could see of it).

I'm not sure if a light burn or cut can cause something like this. If so I probably just have to wait it out til it heals. Whats more, I've tried taking Mucinex, allergy pills, cough drops, but nothing really helps it go away fully. Oh, and it isn't acid reflux as it doesn't burn or anything. It just feels slightly uncomfortable.

Update:

@Bill - I was going to if it didn't go away on its own. Which I may have to do soon.

now why do you not go to a doctor for a look see down yout throat

what you describe sound like a pollop in the vocal cords that is irritating the muscle

mostly they are benign and are removed by a laragotomy operation but it it proves to be cancer , you will have got it in time
