Why are we buying from China, and are we paying for our own destruction?

David Rockefeller went to China in 1973. He came back and told the NY Times that China's social experiment was the greatest in human history, and that China's form of society is the future of humanity. Nelson Rockefeller become Nixon's vice-president. Supposedly, "Nixon opened up China," but why were the Rockefellers so interested in China, and why have American business leaders been sending our manufacturing to China ever since? Was there a long-term goal in mind, and if so, what was it?

If China is some sort of threat to America, why do we keep supporting them by destroying our own manufacturing capacity, and building theirs? Why do we keep buying from them, and not from ourselves? Is it possible that our leaders want to bring America down so that they can somehow build themselves up? But that would imply that there is someone who would benefit from our destruction, and they are our own leaders.

To say that simple greed is the reason makes no sense. As Stalin said, "The capitalists will sell us the rope we'll use to hang them." But, Reagan went whole hog against the Soviets. Why not China, though?

Are there any history experts that can answer any of these questions without wild conspiracy theories? Thanks.

You are being too nationalistic and individualistic.

    (1) There is no shadowy group of people who want to takeover the world. While Rockefeller may have supported our economic relations with China, he is not the cause of them.

    (2) Economic dealings with other nations aren't simply a nation-based thing. Corporations these days are international, and have no reason to be loyal to one nation or the other.

You seem to be under the impression that there's a shadowy group of people who are trying to steal our manufacturing jobs to keep America down and prop China up. The reality is much simpler than that.

The wealthy capitalist class of western nations have grown so large these days that they not only can control their own government through buying off all the politicians, but they can control multiple governments as well, and utilize them to build a global economic system that can yield them the most profits.

It isn't just one shadowy person, but the collective drive for profit among the capitalist class, who lobby their respective states to push for more open trade deals with other countries, so they can benefit off of their economies.

Corporations only care for profit. They have no national identity. If it's more profitable to go to China, they'll go to China. If that's not possible, they'll lobby the state they're in to open up trade relations to make that possible.

It's not some conspiracy to take down America. It's just capitalism at work. It's just corporations seeking the highest profit possible. They are not concerned about how it may harm the working class of these nations, as long as they get their profits.

#1. Reagan did jacksheet. The Soviet Union was broke and in disorray. Back then the American people didn't have the luxury of the internet for information and instead relied on the propaganda of Fake News.

#2. The New World Order thought China was going to be a pawn
