Do I have OCD?
I have a tendency to check things constantly especially when I’m throwing things away and I check around my car before I leave.

That’s being self aware and staying alert.

Nope, that's not OCD.
Now, if you feel the need to check things BECAUSE you think you or a family member or someone close to you will come to harm if you don't check these things, that's a form of it. When I was a child, if I didn't count the corners on doors, walls, and car windows, and put on my shoes just right, I thought my whole family was going to DIE. I had to do everything in a certain order, right side first, count, etc. or something very bad would happen to everyone I loved, or I would have very bad luck if I didn't do these things in a certain order.
Having OCD is usually tied to needing to be in control or something terrible will happen. You've convinced yourself that as long as you count and do things in order, no harm will come to you or your loved ones. Many other people who have OCD tend to be very neat and tidy (me, still) and cannot stand messes and clutter.
