Summary
1. Lunar Eclipse is when the earth comes between sun and the moon blocking any sunlight from reaching the moon whereas New Moon occurs when during the monthly lunar orbit the moon comes between the sun and the earth.
2. Lunar Eclipse is visible on the entire night side of the earth for a period of almost 1 hour whereas on New Moon, the moon is not visible the entire night.
3. Lunar eclipse is caused on a full moon night whereas it is always on the new moon that the solr eclipse occurs.
4. Lunar Eclipse generally occurs twice a year whereas the New Moon occurs once every month.

A lunar eclipse happens at the transition point between New Moon (waxing moon) and Old Moon (waning moon).
But is only the term of "New" to "Old" and does not require a lunar eclipse. An eclipse is when that transition from New to Old happens when that transitions cast a shadow upon the Earth's surface.
This because our 2019 calendar is established at 0 longitude Greenish England time. So it is possible to have an eclipse a day ahead of the recognition of an transition of new to old moon on the Greenish based location calendar date.
Preceding the event of a Lunar Eclipse the Moon is a growing (waxing) New Moon. During eclipse the moon is passing from New to Old (waning) Moon.

A new moon occurs when the moon is at it's closest point to the sun, with the side facing Earth in shadow.
An eclipse only occurs during the point of full moon, when the moon's path takes it through the shadow of the Earth.

A Lunar Eclipse is the Moon passing through Earth's shadow. A Lunar Eclipse happens when Earth is directly between the Sun and the Moon.
A New Moon is the dark side of the Moon facing Earth, so that we cannot see any of the light side of the Moon. A New Moon happens when the Moon is between the Sun and Earth, but is above or below the Sun. When the Moon is directly between the Sun and Earth, then you have a Solar Eclipse and a New Moon at the same time.

A Lunar Eclipse is when the Moon Orbits into the Earth's Shadow
A New Moon is when it has finished its part of Orbit between Earth and Sun

About 14 days.
Lunar eclipses only happen at the time of a full moon - when the Earth passes between the Sun and the Moon casting its shadow on the moon. For about 1 hour the moon is in the Earth's shadow
A new moon happens 14 days later when the Moon passes between the Sun and The Earth
For a whole day we can not see the moon.

They're totally different things.
New Moon occurs every 29 1/2 days when the Sun, Moon and Earth are in line in that order. The Moon becomes invisible because it's in almost the same place as the Sun in the sky and the Sun is lighting up exactly the half we can't see. Normally all three aren't exactly in line but when they are, the Moon blocks the Sun out and causes a solar eclipse.
A lunar eclipse occurs when it's Full Moon and now the order is Sun, Earth, Moon. As with a solar eclipse, most months they aren't exactly lined up but when they are, the Moon passes through the shadow the Earth casts in space so it gets darker. It also goes red because the Earth's atmosphere bends some of the Sun's light, red light bends most, so that's the only light that gets to the Moon and it looks red. More a kind of coppery brown really as some orange light gets there too.
New Moon is a phase and happens every month, a lunar eclipse is an event that CAN occur at the Full Moon phase.
The Moon's orbit round the Earth and the Earth's orbit round the Sun are angled at about 5 degrees to each other, and that's why normally all three aren't exactly in line. If there were no angle between them, we'd get a solar eclipse at every New Moon, and a lunar eclipse at every Full Moon. But there is an angle, the orbits cross at two places called the nodes, so to get an eclipse, we need the right phase AND for the Moon to be at a node.

During a new moon, the moon is between the earth and the sun. All o the light from the sun is being reflected in the opposite direction of earth. At full moon it is the opposite. The earth is between the moon and the sun so we can see all of the sunshine reflecting off the near side of the moon.

A new moon happens once a month when the part of the moon that does not reflect sunlight faces the earth. This makes the moon appear dark for the entire night.
A lunar eclipse happens rarely when the moon it at the right point in its orbit that it passes through the shadow of the earth and appears "dark" for a few minutes.
Two very different causes and different events.
