How do I update my harddrive to a SSD?
I have an old 1tb harddrive, and I want to update the software to SSD. Do I do this in Windows? Or the BIOS? And where would I download the update?
It's a Transcend harddrive but I can't find a link on the website.

It doesn't work that way. You cannot "update" a hard drive to an SSD via software.
Generally:
You use the SSD as a boot drive. Windows, drivers, and some programs are installed on the SSD. You can then use the hard drive as secondary storage for programs or files that don't really take advantage of an SSD's speed. For instance, playing a video file from an SSD won't make the video look any better than it currently is.

Take out your old hard drive and insert your new SSD, Then Download Linux and/or windows onto your SSD
Software is virtual - Software is a windows update or a new linux distribution
Hardware is physical - Hardware Is the hard drive or solid state drive that you're holding
When people say that you get software updates for your SSD, They mean: You get software updates for the operating system that is installed on your SSD
You system will be more responsive will an SSD rather than your HDD because when you had the HDD, It held your operating system and it processed data for you through the RAM (memory), So you probably had to wait around if RAM was full, and got a lot of freezes most likely... The SSD allow you to still use the RAM, but Isn't totally dependent on the RAM, You Operating System can access It's own Data
So speeds will increase. but, quality is waiting for your Screen resolution and GPU, Then for faster processing speeds you'll need to update your CPU, but you cant update it past what that logic board allows

SSD - solid state drive is hardware, like a HDD - hard disk drive which you have now.
