Passport, first aid, a pocket knife with lots of implements, some cord and a large industrial strength garbage sack.

Valid, up to date Passport, some local currency, credit cards, aspirins, band aids, a reliable cell phone, appropriate clothing, good boots, a good parka, and some stuff to sleep on/in...

if you are on meds, then all of those, plus a letter from your physician for emergency renewals, and also to clear customs...

I'd add a couple of caps, and a good sunblock to the mix..

Camera. A good healing lotion for cracked hands (in case you plan to be outdoors a lot.) Water and a water container. A backpack. Medical supplies. Your passport/ID. Any medicines you take. Healthful or helpful snacks. Cell phone. Towel. Washcloths. Rain poncho. Hat. Sweatshirt. Dry socks. Extra pair of shoes. Antihistamine (non drowsy). Neosporin.

Where is the adventure trip? If it's in North Koria you will need a gun, grenades and medical pack.

If it's in the usa then bring water, lots of waterproof matches and a knife with compass on it.
