I was an engineer. 31 years full-time, but more if you count other jobs. I still do engineering, so no, I don't miss it. I don't get paid now, but do it out of sheer fun.

I was a letter carrier with USPS for 38 years. I worked, altogether, for 45 years. I loved most parts of my job. I miss my co-workers and my human and canine friends from my routes, though I have stayed in touch with many of them. We have a regular group of retirees that meet for breakfast one or two days a week, and another group from a station I worked at previously that get together for lunch once a month. I still miss the actual work. I don't miss the crap that came mostly from upper-level mismanagement, and I don't miss the extreme summer and winter weather.

Three years as a high school track and cross country coach. Retail and wholesale pharmaceuticals for 25 years. After retiring from that industry, eight years as an elementary school crossing guard. I do miss them all. I'm very happy, though, with the trade-off of not working any longer so I can spend more time with my immediate family and visit extended family all over the U.S.

I was a typesetter, a broadcast engineer, a mechanical inspector, and finished off my career owning my own business doing laser engraving. I worked about 40 years, and retired early when I came into some money.

I enjoyed laser engraving the most because I was my own boss. I could make my own promises. I could work as much overtime as I wanted (when necessary) because I didn't get paid extra for it. And months after retiring, I had customers calling me to ask if I was still retired. 8^)

I usually enjoyed my work, but I didn't enjoy getting up at 6:00 AM. I think i was always sort of a lazy person, but sometimes nowadays I don't know what to do with myself.
