Can I insure my partner on my car without losing my no claims in a crash.?

My partner has started learning to drive and she has asked to be insured on my car to learn between lessons. If I add her as a named driver and a claim needs to be made, I am aware that I will lose my 6 year no claims discount. Is there any way that I can insure her without losing my no claims in a crash?

People are not insured. Vehicles are insured.

The student is licensed under the licensed driver instructor. If you live together after she gets her license, she can either be added to the policy or excluded from it.

If your partner is on YOUR insurance policy, and she should be if she is going to be driving your car, and she has an accident on YOUR policy, then YOU lose your no-claims discount. Simple.

You really should ask your auto insurance agent this question!
