Can you sleep with your eyes open?

My friend says he can sleeps with his eyes are open. Is it real? I don't believe. Thanks.

    That is a medical condition that can become quite serious because the cornea dries out and becomes painful .

    People with that condition usually have to use surgical tape to keep their lids closed or wear a sleep mask.

    Your friends eyes may be partly open but certainly not wide open or he would be having serious problems with his eyes. The lids have to be closed over the cornea at least in order to bring nutrients to it to keep it healthy. Just the white of the eye may be visible under the cornea and not be so bad health wise.

    It can happen for certain people. I know someone who sleeps with their eyes open and I saw them do it too. You can’t learn to do it though

    When I was little my mom walked in to check on me and I was sleeping with my eyes open, it freaked her out lol. It can happen when your sleeping and your not even aware of it

    It's not something one does on purpose but it happens.
