The Blessing of God, which are, what we have in Christ, who we are in Christ, God's graces, Healing, divine health, prosperity in all good things, divine wealth, the wisdom of God, God's graces in our covenant with Him, the Holy Spirit, all those are the children's bread.

Bread is a staple of life. So praying for the needs of today is what we are needing to pray for. What do we really need? Just food clothing and shelter is all we really need. And he teaches us not to worry about next year. We have enough to worry about today. The quote you give is just a part of the model prayer at Mathew 6:9-11. For detail about that part of the prayer read a little more in Mathew 6. Focus on the passage starting at verse 26 and read through 34. Then the question you ask is fully answered.

LOL "God directs our lives so that we work and are fed....not sit on our butts and have it handed to us"

Yet he tells us to ask him for it. If we worked for it there would be no need to ask him to give it to us.

Our sustenance is truth, which we need continually to be loving and happy.
